Mother's Day, a milestone birthday and a black eye.

Well, I have a few things to catch up on...

Alex turned 10 on May 9th!! Yikes, where does the time go? He had cupcakes at school on Friday the 9th, then went to a movie with Jim and a friend on Saturday the 10th. They got to ride in Jim's new Mustang and they saw Iron Man. It was enjoyed by all including the big kid. :)

Sunday was Mother's Day, so we had the family over to do a combined celebration. I don't mind sharing my day with Alex since he was my first Mother's Day gift. It was a Lego and gift card birthday for him. He was in heaven. Lots of Lego sets to build and money to spend. Alex made me breakfast in bed that morning (bagel w/ butter) and gave me a handmade bracelet that he had made at school. I wore it all day. :) Matthew made me a homemade card (with the help of his preschool teacher). Here's what it said:

My mommy is 5 1/2 years old.
Her hair is brown and her eyes are green.
My mommy's favorite color is purple.
Her favorite thing to cook is Pizza!
My mommy likes to relax by sitting on the couch.
If she could go on a trip she would go to Disney World and take Me! with her.
My mom's the best because she makes pizza for me!

Last week proved to be a busy week since Matthew was under the weather. Some sort of virus. He vomited a couple times and then ran a low grade fever for a few days. Not the most pleasant things... But in the midst of all that, he managed to give himself a nice shiner. He woke up from his nap one afternoon and decided he wanted to open his window shades by himself. He climbed up onto the arm of his rocking chair and slipped and landed in between the chair and the window, hitting his cheek on the windowsill on the way down. Ouch!! He had a nice black eye for a couple days but is now doing fine. At least it wasn't right before school pictures! :-)
